Christmas Festival -- Dec 2013

Recently, I found out that I got accepted to a Christmas festival in Savannah! It’s about a month away and I’m super stoked.

So now we have a month to get everything together and ready. I’m going to get back into my research about a booth set up and figure out what I really want to do that will highlight my work and be a bit unique.

What follows is a bunch of questions about what I want my booth to look like, sort of a place-holder for me. Please feel free to skip to the 4th paragraph, if you don’t want to read my process J

What do I want with my display? What’s my “look”? Is it whitewashed wood? Bare wood? Furniture for displays? Dark shutters to hang the paintings off of? Fishing wire stretched across and the paintings hanging off those with hooks? Fabric attached to the cross poles and the paintings hanging there? Black fabric stapled to panels that bend in the middle and stand on their own? Do I want table top displays?

I want my booth to be an escape. A comfortable place to look at and buy art. I want the art to be center stage, I want Ryan and I out of the way. I want to be very organized. What’s the easiest set up that will look the best? Definitely not country, shabby chic. I want sophistication. So perhaps those expensive panels?

How many tables this time? I like the idea of color in the top of the tent, candles with flavors for a great smelling tent, a little music (although if there’s a band close-by this won’t work), a rug (maybe put a tarp down first so that it doesn’t get wet if it rains, or at least limits the wetness), I want other chairs rather than those camping chairs that take up so much space. I want to teach Ryan how to wrap the paintings with bubble wrap once they are purchased. I like the idea of a gallery – giving each piece space to breathe. But I have so much more work than I did at Oak Groove. So I’m not sure I’ll be able to do that.

I made a list of what I need to do, and did a bunch yesterday. I think the big things are figuring out what I want to do in regards to my set-up (ie answering all of the questions above.). Pinterest should be helpful in that regard.
