Around our house lately, we’ve been planning for Dragon*Con. For Labor Day weekend, we’ll check the dog into her own
puppy-hotel, leave food and water for the cats, and head to downtown Atlanta to
check-in to the hotel for a fun weekend of costumes, geekery, and partying.
And we’re dressing up. So far, I have 3 costumes prepared:
Professor Trelawney from Harry Potter, Zoe from Firefly for a group cosplay on
Saturday evening, and a day of the dead girl for my friend’s bachelorette
party on Sunday.
My big costume is the Zoe costume because there are so many elements I needed to get for it. Like a replica non-shooting mare's leg rifle, holsters, a leather vest, pants like riding pants, boots, a necklace, wrist cuff, a wig. If you haven't seen it, the show/movie is a western in space, with some chinese elements too, so western-type clothes seem to work best. Because of the cost, and the fact that I didn't want to worry about carrying it around, I've decided not to get the rifle. Also, a leather vest is too much money (and way hot for summer) too, so my friend is helping me make a man's sweater in the correct color into a vest. We did a fitting last night, and I'm super excited to see it finished and awesome. We'll also paint it a bit to make it look more like leather.
Other things: I've been painting, including my first foray into "she art" with my very own girl on a painting. Pics soon.
