Today would have been my paternal grandmother’s 94th
birthday. She passed July 23, 2005, one month before her 86th
birthday and two weeks after I started on my path towards where I am now.

Dragon*Con prep
Around our house lately, we’ve been planning for Dragon*Con. For Labor Day weekend, we’ll check the dog into her own
puppy-hotel, leave food and water for the cats, and head to downtown Atlanta to
check-in to the hotel for a fun weekend of costumes, geekery, and partying.
And we’re dressing up. So far, I have 3 costumes prepared:
Professor Trelawney from Harry Potter, Zoe from Firefly for a group cosplay on
Saturday evening, and a day of the dead girl for my friend’s bachelorette
party on Sunday.

You win some, you lose some...
I found out this morning that I did not get chosen for the final 50 artists in the Global Talent Search. What a bummer!
I have so much going on, I nearly forgot about it. But when I got the email, scrolled through the blog post, and didn't see my name, I was upset. Then I went and looked at my painting that I did for the competition, and I see the joy I had when I made it, and I realized how very much I love it. It doesn't matter.

"Leap" I love this so much. |
