Etsy shop is up and running

I finished my etsy shop yesterday and officially opened it. This morning I posted the rest of my originals to the shop. I had them in "draft" mode in anticipation for taking photos of the paintings hanging up, but decided it was better to publish them even without additional pictures.

Whew. I'm working diligently to get the Etsy shop set up and wow it's a lot of work. I think part of it is the way they have the site set up and part of it is my changing my mind several times. Right now, I have 7 paintings up, but my shop isn't "open" yet because I have a few other things to work out before I can open it. Here's part of it...

On Sunday, looks like I’ll have a bunch to sell at the festival and it's going to be a gorgeous day - partly cloudy and high of 83. How exciting!

One last project before the festival...

As I mentioned yesterday, I started one more project for Oak Groove Festival: these letters, which can be hung on doors as decoration or as part of a wall hanging display. The one I made for our house hangs on our front door. For the festival, I’m doing 4 different letters: J, R, B, and C as samples. After I finish these, I’m going to stop new projects and focus on getting everything ready for the festival.

I love that I’m feeling pulled to create. It’s feeling more and more like my full-time job is getting in the way. But I enjoy its security, so for now, I’m keeping my day job. Especially since I get to write everyday in my job, which is my first love.

On wanting to play hookie, and my painting process

I went to my studio this morning and was greeted by 7 new pieces that I started last night, and I didn't want to leave. Forgive the iphone photos!

Oak Groove Festival may be postponed

Got an email today, in the midst of my hurricane of preparing for the festival on Sunday, that because of the severe winds and weather expected, that perhaps the festival will be postponed. They aren't letting us know until Saturday at noon.

Unfortunately, if it doesn't happen, we will be out the cost of renting a tent. And there's no way to transfer the reservation to a future date, because it's still a possibility that it will happen and the rental place is not open on Saturdays.
